Hello!

We’re the Peia family and we’d like to welcome you to our brand new blog! We figured we’d start this all off with an introduction so that our audience can come to know us.

Ernie is “dad.” He works primarily outside of the home for a large, local company. His favourite part of the day is coming home and getting to be a dad. If you ask him, his life aspiration would be to become a stay at home dad—that’s how much he loves it! He’s ready to be a dad to two, but that’s a ways away!

Mylo is currently ten months old. He was born on Christmas Eve and is an absolute blessing in every way. He never fails to bring a smile to everyone’s face and loves to make friends. There’s not an ounce of shyness in this baby, despite being a “pandemic baby.”

I’m “mom”. My name is Shea. I’m primarily a stay-at-home, but work as a photographer and designer (and I also offer customized marketing materials) from home at my primary website (Shea Servidio Photography). I formerly worked in education/marketing and communications as well as had a few jobs in the equine industry. I’ll be the primary contributor for Peias in a Pod.

That’s the rundown of our makeup!

Our story is a little bit of a whirlwind and a lot of fairytale. Back in April 2020, I actually began working on our first blog as more of a personal outlet. It functioned as a diary as Ernie and I purchased our first home, told our parents about our pregnancy, and began our journey into the world as parents. Needless to say, this is very similar. I don’t think there’s a way to make a blog impersonal, but I’m hoping that this turns into something I’m a little more proud of.

Ernie and I met in July of 2019. For context, I was only about 3-4 months out of a 4 year on-again-off-again relationship—which I had actually partially left my previous job as a groom for. The month prior, I had been lucky enough to go on a 25th anniversary cruise with my parents and brothers where I found an interest in ballroom dance.

This is relevant because Ernie walked into the ballroom dance studio I had just started at in July and I immediately texted by best friend that I had met the man I was going to marry.

We would begin dating that following October.

By December, I was asking my aunt to quietly pick my mom’s brain at Christmas and see what she thought of Ernie and I moving in together. At that point, we had already decided to buy a home in fall of 2020 and be engaged by fall off 2021 with a baby on the way by 2023.

Yes, that is honestly and truly the rate at which we were speeding down life’s highway. This was in stark contrast to my previous, long-term relationships where everything had been slow and steady. I actually brought this difference up to a mentor and former coworker when Ernie and I returned from our first date and he put it best—”when you get to a certain age and maturity, you play for keeps.”

And we did. Ernie and I planned out our whole next ten years before COVID-19 came around to throw a wrench in our plans! By early May 2020, Ernie and I knew we were expecting Mylo. 2020 and 2023 are not the same year, for anyone confused, and we were a little confused ourselves. I’m sure, one day, I’ll explain more about that, but for now I’ll leave it there.

On Thanksgiving 2020, after a day visiting both of our immediate families, Ernie and I returned home where he proposed (a complete surprise) with a beautiful sapphire ring (my favourite stone) and by Christmas Eve, baby Mylo was born.

Now, here we are! Almost a year later, we still dance. We’re still young!

And we’re just doing the best we can. We’d love if you joined us on our journey!
